India runs on a single clock, fixed year-round. When your city springs forward or falls back, the gap to New Delhi widens or narrows by exactly one hour. On 15 January 2026, New York is 10.5 hours behind IST. On 15 July 2026, it is 9.5 hours behind. The source never moves. Only the target does.
IST to US time zones: EST, CST, MST, PST
American clocks shift on the second Sunday of March and the first Sunday of November. The offset you use in February is wrong for April.
15 January 2026 (US standard time): - New York (EST): 10.5 hours behind IST - Chicago (CST): 11.5 hours behind IST - Los Angeles (PST): 13.5 hours behind IST
15 July 2026 (US daylight time): - New York (EDT): 9.5 hours behind IST - Chicago (CDT): 10.5 hours behind IST - Los Angeles (PDT): 12.5 hours behind IST
Denver (MST/MDT) follows the same pattern: 12.5 hours behind in January, 11.5 hours behind in July.
The US and Europe switch on different weekends. For a two-to-three-week window each spring and autumn, the IST-to-US offset differs from the IST-to-Europe offset by an extra hour. Check the exact date.
For daily differences, see IST vs New York time.
IST to Europe: GMT, CET
London (GMT/BST): - 15 January 2026 (GMT): 5.5 hours behind IST - 15 July 2026 (BST): 4.5 hours behind IST
The UK moves to BST (UTC+1) on the last Sunday of March. It returns to GMT on the last Sunday of October.
Paris (CET/CEST): - 15 January 2026 (CET): 4.5 hours behind IST - 15 July 2026 (CEST): 3.5 hours behind IST
Central Europe switches on the same schedule as the UK.
When New York is 9.5 hours behind IST and London is 4.5 hours behind, the gap between those two offsets is exactly five hours. That ratio holds all year.

IST to Asia Pacific: Singapore, Tokyo, Sydney
Singapore and Tokyo never shift. Sydney does, in the opposite season.
Singapore (SGT, UTC+8): 2.5 hours ahead of IST, every day. No DST.
Tokyo (JST, UTC+9): 3.5 hours ahead of IST, every day. Japan dropped DST after 1952.
Sydney (AEST/AEDT): - 15 January 2026 (AEDT, summer): 5.5 hours ahead of IST - 15 July 2026 (AEST, winter): 4.5 hours ahead of IST
Australia runs daylight time from October to April. When New York sits 9.5 hours behind IST in July, Sydney is 4.5 hours ahead. That is a 14-hour spread across a single workday.

IST to Middle East: Dubai
Dubai (GST, UTC+4): 1.5 hours behind IST, year-round. The UAE does not observe DST.
A 10:00 AM meeting in Dubai starts at 11:30 AM IST. Every single day.

How to convert: the fixed offset method
IST is UTC+5:30. India has not observed daylight saving since the 1942-45 wartime measure under British rule. The offset does not budge.
- The source never moves. Every offset change comes from the other city.
- Check the target city's DST status. Converting IST to New York in February gives one number. In April, a different number.
- Use the current date. A chart that says "IST to New York = โ10:30" is only accurate for half the year.
- IT and BPO workers: confirm the DST transition dates for your client's country each year. The US and Europe switch on different weekends.
